Hello, and welcome to my blog spot, Twisted Roots and Shoots. This is my first post on this blog, which is dedicated to my genealogy journey. As you probably guessed from the blog name, my journey does not involve a perfect tree or straight path, As a matter of fact, part of my journey involves figuring out which path I want to follow to which destination
I have done Genealogy on and off for years, as family and career allowed. A few years ago, I started having more time to do genealogy. At that point, I realized that I needed to learn more about the process of genealogy, but I didn't really know where to start.
Fortunately, I was familiar with finding information on the internet so I started Googling and found many resources.
Since then, I've attended in person conferences, local society meetings and classes, gone to the Family History Library in Mesa, read books and articles, attended online classes, viewed webinars, participated in study groups and joined Facebook groups.
Throughout this process I have learned so much from the many generous people in the genealogy community
During this time, I have found a lot of exciting information about my ancestors and the history and culture of the times they lived in. Sometimes what I find helped untangle some of my tree branches and sometimes it has created new twists. Either way I am really enjoying it!
Now for a little about me. I have been happily married to Pat for 35 years and we have two grown children. Christy and Jonny. Christy has been happily married for 5 years and Jonny is happily single. We also have a sweet, yet stubborn dachshund named Poky.
I have thought about blogging many times. But I have never done it because two of my biggest challenges are consistency and distraction and I was afraid that I wouldn't be very good at posting on a regular, weekly basis. However, I finally realized that I don't really need to commit to that, at least at first. Instead, I may blog several times in a day or week and then not post for several days or weeks. As with my genealogy journey, my blogging journey will probably not be straight or perfect either, but hopefully it won't be boring!
